SUMMARY OF JOB:
The Associate Director/Director, Medical Affairs Strategy will oversee the development and execution of strategic medical affairs plans, both for internal programs and external interactions. This role provides specialized medical and scientific input into core medical affairs activities and collaborates cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to execute the strategic plan for pediatric rare disease. The position reports directly to the Head of Medical Affairs Strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and execution of annual medical planning for pediatric rare disease, working closely across Medical Affairs functions to ensure alignment with the overall strategy and tactical plans.
  • Provide therapeutic expertise, medical support, and scientific insights to guide cross-functional strategic initiatives.
  • Act as a medical reviewer and subject matter expert on promotional and medical review committees.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, medical societies, and other external stakeholders to gather insights and inform medical strategies.
  • Lead and participate in advisory boards, symposia, and scientific conferences to gather insights, disseminate clinical data, and raise awareness of pediatric rare disease.
  • Stay informed on scientific advancements, competitor activities, and industry trends to influence strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of key Medical Affairs policies, processes, and internal guidance documents.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry codes of conduct in the execution of medical affairs activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced medical/scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, NP/PA) with 5-7 years of experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Prior experience with product launches in orphan or specialty disease areas is preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate strategy into actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to Medical Affairs.
  • Experience with orphan diseases is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and scientific/medical presentation skills are essential.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
