Electra Therapeutics, based in South San Francisco, California, is a clinical stage biotechnology company developing therapies that target signal regulatory proteins (SIRP) for the treatment of immunological diseases and cancer.

Reporting to the CSO, the Lab Manager will oversee day-to-day operations in a dynamic discovery and translational biology laboratory environment. You will play a key role in establishing and maintaining lab infrastructure while ensuring ongoing compliance with EH&S and biosafety regulations. You'll contribute to the success of the team by optimizing lab workflows, maintaining equipment and inventory, and ensuring adherence to protocols and quality standards. In addition, you will support general office and facility management responsibilities as needed, including shipping, receiving, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee daily laboratory operations in support of biologics R&D activities. Serve as the primary contact for all laboratory operations and liaise with property management, contractors, and employees.
  • Assist with laboratory setup and expansion, including sourcing equipment and coordinating installation.
  • Develop and implement policies, training and standards for lab operations to ensure that the safety of the laboratory complies with federal and state regulations and standards.
  • Serve as the EH&S manager and ensure compliance with safety regulations and laboratory standards by coordinating and supervising facility inspections and audits.
  • Maintain lab documentation, including SOPs, equipment logs, and safety records.
  • Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and servicing of laboratory equipment.
  • Manage lab inventory: order, receive, and stock consumables, reagents, and critical supplies.
  • Manage procurement and delivery of bulk laboratory reagents, including compressed gases (e.g., liquid nitrogen, carbon dioxide) and dry ice, ensuring adequate supply for research needs.
  • Work closely with research staff to support experimental workflows and resolve operational bottlenecks.
  • Oversee biological and chemical waste disposal and manage vendor relationships.
  • Assist in developing and implementing workflows to improve lab efficiency.
  • May assist with occasional in vitro laboratory work (e.g., cell culture, ELISA) on an as needed basis.
  • Support additional office management tasks as needed, including coordinating deliveries, shipping samples or supplies, and maintaining lab/office cleanliness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a life science discipline (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology) preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant lab operations experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
  • In vitro laboratory benchwork experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of EH&S regulations and implementation. Familiar with laboratory compliance best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with lab management software (e.g., ELNs, LIMS, or inventory tracking tools) is a plus.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and support cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic startup environment and responding to changing organizational needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to take on a variety of operational and facility-related tasks as needed.
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000. Base salary compensation is determined by a range of factors, including but not limited to candidate experience, qualifications, location and more.
