Electra Therapeutics, Inc. based in South San Francisco, California, is a clinical stage biotechnology company developing therapies that target signal regulatory proteins (SIRP) for the treatment of immunological diseases and cancer.
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist I with a strong immunology background to join our research team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in T and B cell immunology, with additional knowledge in myeloid and granulocyte biology being a plus. This individual will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research on human immune-related diseases, leveraging both in vitro and ex vivo human disease models. The candidate must demonstrate leadership in project management, be self-motivated, and possess the ability to think outside the box to drive scientific discovery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments focused on human immune cell function and disease mechanisms.
- Utilize multi-color flow cytometry for data acquisition and analysis of immune cell populations.
- Perform whole blood assays, functional assays with primary human immune cells, and ELISA to assess immune responses.
- Lead projects, collaborate cross-functionally, and contribute to strategic research initiatives.
- Interpret and present data to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records and contribute to scientific publications and patents.
- Identify and implement innovative technologies and methodologies to advance research goals.
- Write study reports and collaborate with the Translational and Regulatory teams to support the preparation and submission of Investigational New Drug (IND) packages
- Mentor junior research scientists
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, or a related field, and a minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral experience in industry or an M.S. degree with significant industry experience.
- Strong expertise in T and B cell immunology; experience in myeloid and granulocyte biology is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead research projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of scientific innovation.
- Experience with immunohistochemistry, ELISPOT, molecular biology techniques (e.g., real-time PCR), and single-cell RNA analysis preferred.
