Role Summary:
In the position of VP of Engineering, you will define and execute the company's technical vision, especially around AI, data infrastructure, and scalable engineering solutions. Your leadership will focus on developing innovative AI agents and architectures poised to revolutionize how clinical trials are conducted. Working closely with senior management and stakeholders, you’ll champion technological excellence that accelerates medical research and speeds up therapy development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the overall technological strategy, aligning it with business goals and regulatory standards.
  • Develop a comprehensive roadmap for AI agents powered by large language models and agentic workflows.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable and reliable platforms supporting AI solutions in clinical settings.
  • Lead full-stack application development, integrating AI models, APIs, and data systems.
  • Implement best practices in software engineering, AI safety, DevOps, and compliance.
  • Build, mentor, and inspire diverse teams in engineering, AI research, and infrastructure.
  • Foster a collaborative culture that balances rapid innovation with regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Partner with healthcare stakeholders to create AI solutions that improve trial efficiency, data integrity, and time-to-market for therapies.

Experience & Requirements:

  • 10+ years in senior technology leadership, with strong expertise in AI/ML, SaaS, and scalable systems.
  • Proven success managing cross-functional teams within regulated environments such as healthcare or life sciences.
  • Hands-on experience with deploying large language models, AI agents, and multi-agent frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of clinical data standards and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, GxP, HL7/FHIR).
  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure, vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Startup experience, especially scaling engineering teams from the ground up.

This role offers a competitive base salary between £200,000 and £250,000, depending on experience, along with additional benefits.
